High Efficiency - Nonmetallic - Air-Sealed Electrical Boxes
Vapor Seal products provide a solution to prevent air infiltration/air leakage on exterior walls
where openings for electrical switch and receptacle boxes are required.
Vapor Seal:
Material & Labor Saving Features
With innovative products designed for the electrical contractor, Allied Moulded offers a complete line of wall and ceiling boxes for use in energy efficient homes to aid in sealing up the exterior walls per construction methods outlined in the International Energy Conservation Code and the OS4 standard which sets 2 CFM as the maximum allowable air infiltration/leakage. (Check out the map below and click on the image to find out more information)
Allied Moulded's P-221NV, pictured to the left, reduces air infiltration/leakage by 70% to less than .75 CFM.
Status of State Energy Code Adoption: Residential
State energy code is assessed based on a quantitative analysis of energy savings impacts within a given state.
Ice Dams
In colder climates, ice dams can form in various places both inside and outside your home.
An article published by the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy discusses attic air sealing, insulating, and ventilating for ice dam prevention. Allied Moulded products suggests to use our Vapor Seal electrical outlet boxes as they meet the air seal requirements of the IECC-Residential code requirements to help prevent ice dams along with allowing high degree of energy efficient construction.
According to the article the three best ways builders can combat ice dam formation are to:
- Fully air seal the ceiling plane.
- Thoroughly insulate the attic.
- Ventilate the roof.
